PURPOSE:To improve the efficient utilization of a file equipment and the transmission efficiency by detecting the location of the information part in an original based on placing position information. CONSTITUTION:A picture data converted into a digital signal by a CCD read section 301 is subjected shading correction and stored tentatively in a shift memory section 303. The picture data outputted from the shift memory section 303 is inputted to a density processing section 305, binarization processing and dither processing are applied to form a binary signal, which is outputted to a trimming processing section 306, where the edit of picture such as trimming or masking is applied. Moreover, the binary signal is also inputted to an original position detection section 307 to detect the position coordinate of the information part in the original on the original platen glass and the CPU section 308 controls an output destination device such as a printer.
