This locking device is of the type including a linkage 9 at least for locking at the top or bottom. According to the invention, it is made up of means 18-19 for connecting to the back part of the bolt 4 of the lock, by at least one housing 7 for guiding a linkage 9, which can be sectioned in length, and comprising a mechanism 13-12 for actuating this linkage, this housing being intended to be fixed to the opening leaf 3 close to the housing 2 of the lock and so that the direction of travel of the linkage 9 is perpendicular to that of the bolt 4 of the lock, and by a connecting rod 16 for connecting between the aforementioned mechanism and the means 18-19 for connection with the bolt 4. <IMAGE>
