Device for converting movement including a first stage comprising two pulleys 200, 202 moving at speeds in opposite directions one of which speeds may be zero, the other at least of the two pulleys being operationally coupled to a shaft 204 generating a first rotational movement, a second stage comprising at least one set of two pulleys 206, 208 which are rotationally linked, and a movable support supporting, with free rotation, the two pulleys of the first stage and generating a second rotational movement. The pulleys 200 and 206 on the one hand and the pulleys 202 and 208 on the other hand are connected together by transmission means made up, at least in part, by clutch or friction wheels. <IMAGE>
