PURPOSE:To execute recording and reproduction with high density by constituting the titled device so that a magnetic head always executes a recording and reproducing operation in a correct slide-contact state to a recording layer of a cylindrical magnetic recording medium along a guide being roughly parallel to a bus in the cylindrical magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION:An operating lever 48 provided on the upper rack base 14 is turned in the direction as indicated with a arrow R, substrates 35-37 are turned against a spring force by magnetic head withdrawing levers 51-53, magnetic heads H1-H3 are separated from the surface of a cylindrical magnetic recording medium D, and the recording medium D is loaded to the outside periphery of a turning driving mechanism RD. Subsequently, an engaging part 63 of the recording medium D is attracted against a magnetic engaging part 62 provided on a rotary disk 61 on a rotary shaft 60 of a rotation driving motor Md, the recording medium D and the driving mechanism RD are attracted magnetically, and thereafter, when the operating lever 48 of a turning plate 47 is turned counterclockwise, the magnetic heads H1-H2 become a state abutting on the surface of a recording layer of the recording medium D.
