PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled medium having high density by forming a perpendicular magnetically anisotropic film which consists of partial oxide of the iron and cobalt expressed by general formula and has prescribed characteristics on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:The perpendicular magnetically anisotropic film which consists of the partial oxide of the iron and cobalt expressed by formula I and has the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane is formed on the substrate. In formula, (x) and (y) are the values ranging 0.01<=x<=0.75, 0.05<=y<=0.50. The anisotropic film is so formed that the peak of the diffracted X-ray intensity occurring in the oxide of iron and the peak of the diffracted X-ray intensity occurring in the metal of iron and cobalt are both detected by X-ray diffraction.
