Total heart prosthesis comprising a casing (1, 2) implantable in the pericardial cavity and of which the geometry is similar to that of the natural heart with a motor device inside said casing comprising essentially two membranes (4, 10) of which one (4) works during the elongation stroke within a space defining the right ventricle and of which the other (10) works during the deformation stroke within a space defining the left ventricle, with blood bags (19, 20) enclosed within said right and left ventricular spaces appropriate to be connected to vessels of the circulatory system of a patient. The elastic membrane (4) of the right ventricle and a support part (5) associated therewith are mounted within the prosthesis casing (1, 2) by means which are so arranged that the movement of said membrane (4) during elongation (systole) is decomposed in two phases of which one is a displacement without elongation and the other, only, is accompagnied with an elongation, whereas the reverse movement (diastole) comprises first a retraction phase followed by a displacement without modification of the shape of said membrane (4) and of the support part (5) associated therewith. |
