An arrangement for actuating a device used for safety or the like in a vehicle, especially a car, is described, having a transmission means (1) which is connected to a component (2) which is arranged on the front part of the vehicle and can, in the event of an accident, be displaced with respect to other components (9, 11) which are fixed to the vehicle, the said transmission means (1) transmitting the relative displacement of the said component to actuate the device (3). In order to be able to mount the transmission means as far forwards as possible in the front of the vehicle on these components which are first to be displaced and/or deformed, or are the most badly affected, in the event of a collision, the transmission means is to be composed of a flexible Bowden cable arrangement with an external cover (5) which can be pressure-loaded, the front end (6) of which is connected to the displaceable component (2) and the rear end (8) of which is connected to a component (9) which is fixed to the vehicle, and with an inner core (4) which can be subjected to tensile stress, the front end (10) of which is connected to a component (11) which is fixed to the vehicle and the rear end (12) of which is connected to the device (3) to be actuated. <IMAGE>
