PURPOSE:To shorten the non-transmission time at the time of changing ferrules to a greater extent by forming curved parts expanding outward to the aperture at both ends of a sleeve for holding the two ferrules in contact with each other and passing the ferrules through the apertures by the elastic deformation thereof. CONSTITUTION:A slit 61 is axially formed to the peripheral wall of the cylindrical sleeve 60 which holds the end faces of the ferrules 11, 21 respectively having optical fibers 10, 11 in contact with each other. Circumferential edges 62a of the apertures provided on both sides thereof are expanded outward and are thereby curved. A spring body 70 is removed and while the ferrule 11 is held slightly pushed in, the 3rd ferrule to be exchanged is pressed to the edges 62a and is pushed into the sleeve 60 by elastically expanding the aperture 62, then the ferrules 31 and 32 are instantaneously changed. The ferrules are thus changed by one action, by which the non-transmission time at the time of the change is greatly shortened. |
