PURPOSE:To supply optimum amount of fuel at a time of low load with an injection valve of a high flow rate by injecting an amount of fuel at a time for two cylinders of which the opening actions of suction valves occur in succession and at a crank angle position at which the fuel is taken in equally divided into the two cylinders at the time of low load on an engine. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection device, while having a fuel injection valve 1, is provided with a means 3 for calculating a fuel injection rate according to an engine operating condition detected with a means 2, a means 4 for controlling one injection for one suction stroke of each cylinder synchronously with an engine rpm, and a means 5 for performing injection in response to signals from the means 3 and 4. In this constitution, a means 6 is provided for discriminating if the engine is at a low load or not. A means 7 is arranged to issue an instruction so that an amount of fuel for two cylinders is injected at a time, with the opening action timings of the two cylinders being in succession, at an injection timing of approximately in the middle of crank angle positions of the two cylinders at which each suction valve takes its highest lift position, at the time of the low load.
