PURPOSE:To print and display a received document in a layout designated on the transmission side without much deforming on the layout by modifying the display position of an image information depending on the image picture element density in a facsimile terminal equipment on the transmission side. CONSTITUTION:A layout modification part 5 judges on the number of picture elements to be contained in an image area from the picture element density of a print/display part 7, and judges the number of picture elements included in the image information from the picture element density of the image information. In case the picture element number in the image area is larger than that in the image information, the printing/displaying starting position of the image information is so modified that the printing/displaying position comes approximately in the middle of the image area. Inversely, if the picture element number of the image information is larger than that of the image area, the picture elements in the peripheral part of the image information is deleted so that the central part of the image information is printed/displayed in the image area.
