PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a data base device by using a multi- medium standard input means which transfers data between a data memory and a data file and a data base standard operating means which performs a standard data base operation common to various data base memory control means. CONSTITUTION:A multi-medium information retrieving means 12 uses a multi- medium standard input/output means 10 and a data base standard operating means 11 to store data into a data file 4 or a data base memory control means 6 and also retrieves and outputted the data that satisfies the input retrieving conditions. A multi-medium conversation input means 13 uses a picture data input means 8 and the means 12 to supply the picture data, to process and recognize the input picture data and to store the data on the processing results into the file 4 or the means 6. In such a way, both data input and retrieval processing tasks are facilitates and the operability of a data base device is improved.
