PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity and repetitive characteristics of a sensitive body by using a specified azo compd. contg. a septithiophene structure as an electric charge generating substance. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of azo compds. each contg. a septithiophene structure represented by formula I or II are used as an electric charge generating substance in the photosensitive layer of a single layer type sensitive body or in the electric charge generating layer 4 of the photosensitive layer 21, 22 of a laminate type sensitive body. The layer 21, 22 has the layer 4 and an electric charge transferring layer 6. In the formulae I, II, each of R1-R29 is H, halogen or the like and A is a coupler residue. Each of the azo compds. is synthesized by bringing a diazonium salt and a coupler corresponding to the compd. into a coupling reaction by the action of a base in a proper solvent such as N,N-dimethylformamide. Thus, a sensitive body having high sensitivity whether positively or negatively charged and also having superior repetitive characteristics is obtd. |
