An isolated hydroxy-carboxylic acids and their salts and esters corresponding compds. of formula (I) are prepd. by enzymealkoxylation of ML-236B compds. selected from ML-236B lactone, ML-236B carboxylic acids, their salts or esters. The title derivs. have inhibitory activities of cholesterol biosynthesis.
