A grinding machine for grinding, in particular, parts of scissors or knife blades has a rotatably driveable grinding wheel (31), a workpiece receiver (25) and a guide device for guiding the workpiece receiver (25) during the grinding operation. To enable fully automatic grinding of all surfaces to be ground on a workpiece, in particular on parts of scissors, knife blades or the like, on only one grinding machine, the workpiece receiver (25) is arranged on a compound slide (17, 21) displaceable in an x-y-plane and is constructed so as to be rotatable about a pivot axis (z-axis). The workpiece receiver (25) has at least one clamping device which is arranged on the workpiece receiver (25) in such a way that the main longitudinal direction of a clamped-in workpiece runs substantially parallel to the pivot axis (z-axis). The pivot axis (z-axis) of the workpiece receiver (25) runs parallel to the movement plane (x-y-plane) of the compound slide (17, 21) and perpendicularly to the axis of rotation (32) of the grinding wheel constructed as a cup wheel (31). <IMAGE>
