During a time when the front cover 1a is assembled in the main body 1, if an original P1 is set through an original insertion opening 24, the original carrying mechanism B functions its original carrying function. But when the cover 1a is disassembled from the main body 1, an original reading position is placed on an original P1' fixed on the plane of such as a desk with its original reading position G facing downward, the original carrying mechanism B is substituted by a copying machine running mechanism, and the main body 1 runs by itself in direction R2 (subscanning direction).
