PURPOSE:To simply obtain the characteristics of a controlled system in a short time at a point near the target value by using a means which differentiates the control deviation and an arithmetic means which calculates a PID constant after input of the output of said differentiation means and the control deviation. CONSTITUTION:A differentiation means 15 differentiates the control deviation obtained by subtracting the controlled variable supplied to a controlled system 14 from an ON/OFF control means 11 from the target value. An arithmetic means 16 receives input of the output of the means 15 and the control deviation and calculates a PID constant of the controlled system. A PID control element 13 sets and controls the PID constant calculated by the means 16. Thus the output of the means 15 that differentiated the control deviation when this deviation is equal to zero is obtained and therefore the PID constant is obtained in the state of the controlled system 14 when the differential values of the controlled system 14 are measured at the time of the fall and the rise at a point near the target value. Thus it is possible to obtain the characteristics of the controlled system 14 simply and in a short time at a point near the desired target value.
