In a device which is described for example in DE-PS 3024812 and has a diaphragm valve (1), constructed as a non-return valve, in the intake pipe (6) of an internal combustion engine, an electromagnet (7) is assigned to the diaphragm elements (2), the said electromagnet (7) only being excited at relatively high speeds of revolution of the motor with the effect of opening the diaphragm valve (1) so that then it does not present any flow resistance to the fresh gas flowing in (3). <IMAGE>
