PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber of high tenacity with little flaw or fluff, outstanding in toughness, high in breaking elongation, by take-up at specified change angle of coagulated yarns produced by spinning a poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide polymer. CONSTITUTION:A poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide polymer is dissolved either sulfuric acid or a solvent consisting chiefly of sulfuric acid such as a mixture of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid to prepare a dope with a polymer concentration 17-22wt.%. This dope is then delivered through a spinneret 1, being passed through air followed by introduction into a coagulating bath 2 to produce coagulated yarns 3, which are then brought to take-up at a change angle theta>=90 deg. through a change roll 4, being washed with water at a washing section 6 and dried at a drying section 7, thus obtaining the objective fiber suitable as a rubber reinforcer and reinforcing fibrous material for plastics.
