PURPOSE:To obtain a laying material, having excellent cushioning properties and capable of exhibiting whole pliable feeling, by mechanically stirring an aqueous resin emulsion containing a silicone oil based water-soluble type heat- sensitive gelling agent and nonionic surfactant and applying the resultant foamed emulsion. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous resin emulsion containing a silicone oil based water- soluble type heat-sensitive gelling agent and a nonionic surfactant, e.g. polyoxyethylene glycol or ethylene oxide adduct of an aliphatic alcohol, is mechanically stirred and foamed and the resultant foamed aqueous resin emulsion is then applied or impregnated into the back surface of a laying material, which is subsequently heated to increase temperature thereof, cause gelation and remove water at the same time. A gelling agent having 45-95 deg.C cloud point and >=15 deg.C lower than that of the surfactant is used as the heat-sensitive gelling agent in an amount of 0.4-20pts.wt. (solid content) based on 100pts.wt. solid content of the resin in the emulsion.
