PURPOSE:To prevent appearance of a transfer pattern and generation of rough surface in case of rolling melted glass by subjecting a Co-base alloy layer wherein composition and the particle diameter of crystal are specified to solid-phase diffusion joining on the surface of a roll main body by means of hot hydrostatic pressurization. CONSTITUTION:A Co-base alloy layer 2 which consists of by weight 0.15-3.0% C, 25-35% Cr, 0.5-12% W, 0.5-6% Mo and the balance Co and has <=10mu particle diameter of crystal is subjected to solid-phase diffusion joining on the surface of a roll main body 1 by means of hot hydrostatic pressurization. The alloy layer 2 has extremely excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance and wear resistance is enhanced by forming carbide between C and Cr, Mo, W. Therefore C not less than 0.15% is necessary but corrosion resistance and toughness are lowered in case of exceeding 3.0% Cr, W and Co not less than lower limit are necessary respectively in order to enhance corrosion resistance and wear resistance but toughness is deteriorated in case of exceeding upper limit. Further a product having good surface roughness is stably obtained by regulating the particle diameter of crystal of the alloy layer 2 to <=10mum.
