PURPOSE:To improve the optical transmission property of the titled fiber over the wavelength from visible ray to near infrared ray by using a copolymer of alpha,beta,beta-trifluoro-2,3,4,5,6-heavy hydrogenated styrene and fluoroalkyl pentadeuterium methacrylate as a core polymer. CONSTITUTION:The copolymer of alpha,beta,beta-trifluoro-2,3,4,5,6-heavy hydrogenated styrene and fluoroalkyl pentadeuterium methacrylate is used as the core polymer. The alpha,beta,beta-trifluoro-2,3,4,5-heavy hydrogenated styrene has low optical transmission loss, and the change of the photoconductivity of said styrene due to humidity is small. The fluoroalkyl pentadeuterium methacrylate has less C-H bond per the unit volume of the copolymer whereby the residual C-H bond has only very small effect on the photoconductivity of the plastic optical fiber. Thus, the titled fiber having the improved optical transmission property over the wavelength from the visible ray to the near infrared ray is obtd. |
