PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-quality fiber causing no fluff and filament breakage, good in process passability, free from adhesion and/or fusing among the filaments, by imparting pitch fiber with a specific lubricant to collect the filaments followed by making the fiber infusible and carbonization. CONSTITUTION:Pitch fiber formed by melt spinning of raw pitch is imparted with a lubricant prepared by blending a straight chain silicone oil (pref., dimethylpolysiloxane, methylphenylpolysiloxane, aminopolysiloxane or fatty acid-modified polysiloxane) and an organic antioxidant (e.g., amine) to collect the filaments of said fiber. Thence, the filaments is made infusible followed by carbonization, thus obtaining the objective fiber. |
