PURPOSE:To decide the minimum value of a picture input delay time required for removing the oscillation of a camera or erasing an after image by measuring an error between the interlace fields of an input picture. CONSTITUTION:An interlace type picture signal is obtained from an object to be recognized having a specific pattern. The picture signal is processed to run length coded data corresponding to plural lines. The line separated by the prescribed number of lines from a reference position and the line adjacent thereto are sequentially specified and whether the values of the run length coded runs of the two lines enter the range of a prescribed value or not is decided. When the run coordinate values of the two specific lines are present within the prescribed range, the positions of the start point and the end point of the respective runs are compared with each other and when the value of the misregistration of the start point or the end point of the two runs is situated within the prescribed range, it is decided that a correct picture input is carried out. In such a way, the error between the interlace fields of the input picture can be measured. |
