PURPOSE:To improve the sharpness of a picture image by incorporating plate shaped silver halide particles having a specified particle size into an emulsion layer and incorporating low molecular weight acylated gelatin into binder of a hydrophylic colloid layer constituting a nonphotosensitive surface protective layer. CONSTITUTION:Plate shaped silver halide particles having 5 times particle size as large as the particle thickness are incorporated into an emulsion layer, and low molecular weight acylated gelatin is incorporated into a binder of a hydrophilic colloid layer constituting a nonphotosensitive surface protective layer at the outside of the emulsion layer. Suitable acylating group to be introduced is one expressed by the formula. In the formula, R1 is 1-10C alkyl or alkenyl group, wherein 1-4C atoms may be substituted by hetero atoms, and cyano group, halogen atom, nitro group, carbamoyl group, etc., may be contained also with the proviso that a substituent contg. active H is not contained. By this constitution, a silver halide photographic sensitive material having high sharpness and high silver efficiency is obtd. |
