A drive device for an oil pump in an internal combusion engine is described, which enables the pump rotor to be centered with respect to the crankshaft under minimum tolerance conditions; its main characteristic is that it comprises a baseplate which supports the pump and a gear forming part of a transmission device between the crankshaft and the pump rotor; on connecting the gear to the crankshaft, the baseplate with all its supported components preassembled thereon becomes centered with respect to the crankshaft, so that the distance between the axes of the gear and pump rotor is always within a tolerance of less than or equal to that required for optimum operation of the transmission device. |
