PURPOSE:To simplify the operation for reserving the picture recording of a television program by reading and displaying a broadcast guide from an information medium in which the broadcast guide of the television program is previously stored. CONSTITUTION:At the time of reserving for the picture recording, when the information medium in which the broadcast guide of the television program is previously stored in set to an information reading part 7, the information reading part 7 reads the broadcast guide from the information medium 8 and displays on a monitor 3 through a video recording and reproducing part 5 and outputs the information of the broadcast guide to a timer control part 11. A user refers to the broadcast guide displayed on the monitor 3 and directly sequentially selects a program desired to reserve for the picture recording on the screen of the monitor 3 by the use of a write pen 9, for instance. The timer control part 11 sequentially detects the selected television programs based on a selecting signal from this write pen 9 and broadcast guide information from the information reading part 7 and stores them together with the information of a broadcasting date, a channel, a broadcasting time or the like.
