PURPOSE:To remove a flaw safety and quickly and to curtail the loss of an operation line by clamping a supporting mechanism on a mandrel at the grinding time of the flaw of an unit roll and equipping the grinding device grinding the roll face with the rotation of a screw bar body. CONSTITUTION:After fitting a supporting mechanism 20 to a mandrel 12 an air hose is connected to the cylinder 45 of a clamping mechanism 40 and that 34 built in a grinding device to drive the cylinder 45. A clamp member 42 is rotated via a supporting pin 41 by the driving of this cylinder 45 to press the mandrel 12 with the hard rubber at the tip of a clamp 42. A centering is then performed with an unit roll 5 by descending a cradle car 11 and rotating the mandrel 12. A grinding is started by rotating the roll 5, working the cylinder 34 and pressing a grinding stone 33 to the roller 5 face. At this time, a grinding device 30 is moved with a supporting body 21 as a guide in the direction of non-handle side from the handle 36 side via a screw bar body 32 by turning the handle 36. The roll 5 is therefore ground equally because of its being rotated as well.
