PURPOSE:To contrive the effective application of a memory by checking the availability of the memory as well as the access frequencies and the final dates of replacement of the files stored in the memory for each fixed period and erasing the files having low availability. CONSTITUTION:An access control part 7 controls the files 21-2n and their history information memory parts 41-4n in a large capacity memory 1. When a reading/writing requests are produced from each file, the relevant file name is received by an input/output part 6 from an access processing part 5. Then the contents of the parts 41-4n and an application information memory part 3 are sent to a replacement part 10. The part 6 writes the replaced frequency, date, availability, etc., into the parts 41-4n and the part 3. Then an inspection part 8 reads out the replaced part 3 every fixed period. When the availability exceeds a certain level, a comparison part 9 reads out the reading/writing frequencies and the dates of replacement to decide the files to be erased. Then an erasion part 11 erases those files out of the memory 1.
