PURPOSE:To judge the characteristic of a particulate structure automatically in a short time accurately, by providing a frequency distribution memory means, first and second division means and an abnormality processing means. CONSTITUTION:A frequency distribution memory means stores a 2-D distribution frequency distribution of a measuring data. A first division means determines the minimum part of a particulate degree frequency distribution over the entire area of the 2-D frequency distribution before division or in one area thereof divided by a second division means with only one of a data X pertaining the particulate structure of a sample or a data Y pertaining to the size of the particles as variables to divide the entire area or one area with the minimum part as boundary. Then, a second division means determines the minimum part of the particulate degree frequency distribution which is obtained with only the other of the data X or the data Y as variables in one area of the 2-D frequency distribution divided by the first division means to divide the one area with the minimum part thereof as boundary. Then, an abnormality processing means judges the sample to be special to perform an abnormality processing when no division is performed because there is no minimum part determined by the first or second division means.
