PURPOSE:To suppress the bending of small piece fins and to stabilize the performance of the heat exchanger by forming making the front row pitch smaller than the rear row pitch of small piece fins among a plurality of front and rear rows intersecting rectangularly a coolant pipe, and bending the small piece fins into an arcuate shape with the front row fins positioned on the inner side. CONSTITUTION:For bending of a heat exchanger 21, the pitch of front row small piece fins 22 on the side in contact with a bending metal mold is arranged smaller than the pitch of rear row small piece fins 22'. Heat medium tubes 23 disposed in a zigzag manner rectangularly intersect small piece fins 22 and 22'. Upon bending, the pitch of the front row small piece fins 22 is made finer whereby the bending of the fins 22 can be prevented and further thinning of the fins 22 can be realized. By thinning the rear row fins and coarsening of the pitch, the material can be saved. By these procedures, the stable performance of the heat exchanger can be displayed and the material can be reduced without blocking the air passages between small piece fins.
