PURPOSE:To make the operation of a disposer easy by a method wherein in a garbage disposer using microwaves, the temp. of a purification unit is compared with two standard values such as a high and a low one to operate or stop repeatedly a heater heating, a catalyst element and when the temp. of the unit reaches a more lower standard value, combustion is judged to be finished. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas generated from combustion is catalytically burnt by a catalyst element 11 activated with a heater 10 heating the catalyst element of a purification unit 11 for exhaust gas. At that time the temp. of the unit 12 is detected by a temp. detector 16 and its detected value is fed into a control means 18. The means 18 compares this temp. with a high set temp. I and a low set temp. II: when the detected temp. is equal to or higher than the temp. I, the heater 10 is stopped and when equal to or lower than the temp. II the heater is operated. The heater is operated and stopped repeatedly until the temp. reaches a lower temp. III which is lower than the temp. II: when the temp. is reduced to the temp. III, a treater is wholly stopped. Thereby, the disposer is operated in accordance with the amount of garbage, the use of the disposer can be made easy.
