PURPOSE:To extremely shorten a user waiting time needed for an input operation through display of image information by storing temporarily the image information retrieved from a 1st memory means into a 2nd memory means and at the same time displaying the image information on a display means. CONSTITUTION:The retrieving and reading operations of the image information are designated through a keyboard 12 and the image information retrieved from an optical disk device 17 is read out by a DMA circuit 14. This compressed image information is written in a FIFO memory area of a FIFO/page memory 19 and read into an IOU 23 to be expanded. This expanded information is written in a page memory area of the memory 19. At the same time, a magnification/contraction circuit 32 of an IPU 22 adjusts image data in response to the display size of a CRT 26 and also writes the data in a display memory 200. The image data written in the memory 20 is read out to the CRT 26 for each line in response to the writing operation and displayed there. In other words, the image data is written in the memory 19 and displayed on the CRT 26 at a time and in parallel with each other. Thus the waiting time for display is omitted for a user after input of the image information.
