PURPOSE:To reduce the damage amount of side frames by a shock, by installing box-formed brackets with the rigidity smaller than that of the side frames on top of the side frames of a car body, and installing a bumper at the front side of the brackets. CONSTITUTION:Side frames 2 at both sides of a car body are composed in a closed section form, and a square plate 3 is connected at the end of the side frame 2. A bracket 4 is made by bending steel plates into a hat form, which are connected opposing each other into a box form, furnishing edges 4a at both sides, and a flange 4b is furnished at the rear end. The flange 4b is bolted to the plate 3, fixing metals 6 are connected to the rear side of the edges 4a, and a bumper is installed to the fixing metals 6. Therefore, when the bumper receives a shock, the striking energy is delivered to and absorbed by the brackets 4 through the fixing metals 6, and the striking energy to the side frames 2 is reduced, making the damage amount of them smaller.
