PURPOSE:To prevent the position deflection of a sheet-shaped polishing material by tilting the generating line of the column surface of a polishing material holding tool which contacts a working point when the corner at the edge surface of a rotary body is polished by the sheet-shaped polishing member supported by the polishing material holding tool. CONSTITUTION:A sheet-shaped polishing material 3 is attached onto a polishing material holding tool 2 having a column surface 15 projecting outwardly by applying a tension in the direction vertical to the generating line 5 of the cylinder surface 15. The generating line 5 of the contact part with a working point 4 is arranged, forming an angle alpha in 0<alpha<90 deg. for a plane 17 vertical for the revolution axis 6 of a workpiece. Therefore, the frictional force generated between the sheet-shaped polishing material 3 and the polishing material holding tool 2 increases, and the shift of the sheet-shaped polishing material 3 in the direction of arrow 18 is prevented. Therefore, the position deflection of the sheet-shaped polishing material 3 is not generated, and the stable working is permitted, and the mechanical polishing work is permitted, and the production efficiency can be improved. |
