PURPOSE:To enhance the grade of both roundness and cylindricality of a cylinder, in the case of inner face lapping for the cylinder made of ceramics, by absorbing and releasing abnormal shocks during a lapping process or carelessly applied external force by means of a coil spring for supporting a cylindrical workpiece with clips. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical workpiece 24 is supported by clips 28 above a slider 26 via a coil spring 27 and forced to repeat normal and reverse turning motion at a constant time interval by means of a main shaft part 22 in a state with a lap tool 21 inserted therein. Lapping liquid containing diamond power is injected therein from a lapping liquid supplier 32 so that the slider 26 may be put in reciprocating motion to make lapping process in the longitudinal direction of the lap tool 21 by means of a moving mechanism 30 such as a crank mechanism. In this case, since the cylindrical workpiece 24 is supported via the coil spring 27, application of any careless abnormal shock or other external force etc. can be restricted so that the lapping process can be carried out in a stably supported state. Therefore, lap finishing having preferable surface roughness and excellent grade of roundness and cylindricality can be carried out in good reproducibility as well as excessive face hanging at both ends of the inner face can be reduced, in this way. |
