The invention relates to a percussion device intended to transform a material to be worked. According to the invention, it includes a body 1 in which there is mounted a movable striker 2, the shank 3 of the striker 2 is located in a drive jack 6 serving to impart to it an impact energy during its outward stroke and is suitable for connecting to the return stroke control of the striker 2, the device is also made up of an annular shoulder 20 provided at the middle part of the striker and a cavity 17 which receives the shoulder and also includes a braking chamber 21 and whose transverse dimension is essentially equal to the transverse dimension of the shoulder 20, the lateral surface of the braking chamber 21 or of the annular shoulder 20 has the shape of a cone.
