[Also in Division C3] A paint based on a natural oil is made thixotropic by adding to it an inorganic or organic salt of a reaction product of an inorganic acid with (a) an epoxidized ester, having an epoxide oxygen content of 0À1 to 3% by weight, of an unsaturated fatty or wax acid with a saturated alcohol, or (b) an epoxidized ester, having an epoxide oxygen content of 0À1 to 3% by weight, of an unsaturated fatty alcohol or alcohols with a mono- or polybasic saturated or unsaturated carboxylic acid, usually in an amount 0À1-3% by wt. of the paint.</p> |
