PURPOSE:To attain the remote control of plural sets of electric apparatus from a telephone set by applying optical modulation to a code signal identifying at least one of plural electric apparatus being objects of control and an operation data signal designating the operating state so as to supply the result to an infrared ray emitting section provided to a telephone set main body. CONSTITUTION:A dial pulse tone signal supplied to a telephone set 4 from a telephone set 10 via an exchange 8 or a dial pulse tone signal generated from a dial pulse tone generating section 14 by operating an operation button 12 of the telephone set 4 consists of a signal designating any one of home electric appliances 2a-2e and a signal designating the operation to be conducted by the designated home electric appliance. The signal is fed to a code generating section 22 and a data pulse generating section 24 via a remote control tone signal discrimination section 16 and a discrimination section 20, and a code pulse train and a data pulse train are generated. The both are generated into a pulse train by a pulse train generating section 26, blinks an infrared-ray emitting section 6 via an optical modulation section 28, from which the optical modulation signal is generated. The appliances 2a-2e are subjected to remote control by the optical modulation signal.
