PURPOSE:To reduce reactive power, by inserting the insulator of a specified thickness into voltage applied into a space or the like between respective series capacitor units. CONSTITUTION:A high-voltage generator is composed of the series capacitor units 19, 20 of respective capacitors 1-8 connected to the output ends 21, 22 of a high-voltage transformer 17, and diodes 9-16 to the connecting points of the respective capacitors 1-8, and to terminals 22, 23 at both the ends of the unit 20, a load resistor 18 is connected. Besides, the terminal 22 and a case 50 are commonly grounded. Into a space between said respective series capacitor units 19, 20 and in a space between the series capacitor unit 19 and the case 50, an insulator 51 is inserted. The insulator 51 is formed with a thickness equal to or longer than an insulating distance to applied voltage. As a result, a stray capacity is diminished, and the capacity of the highvoltage transformer is reduced, and a device can be miniaturized.
