PURPOSE:To attain efficient simultaneous operation of a facsimile equipment and a telephone set connected to one subscriber line by inserting an AC call signal between DC call signals to a reception side at the network side so as to allow the reception side facsimile equipment automatically to identify a call from a telephone set and a call of a facsimile equipment. CONSTITUTION:A reception side exchange 220 of a communication network 200 has a 2-way call signal generating section 223 and an AC call signal 1100Hz is generated between DC call signals 16Hz by the request of a sender side. Moreover, an NCU 340 of a receiver side facsimile equipment 300 is provided with a DC call signal detection section IRDET 341 detecting both the call signals respectively and an AC call signal detection section CNGDET 342. A changeover section 344 consists of a switch 3441 and a 2-4 wire conversion section 3442 and when only the DC call signal is detected by the IRDET 341 and the CNGDET342, the switch 3441 connects a line to a telephone set 330 by using s control signal from a control section CTL 343. Furthermore, when both the call signals are detected, the switch 3441 connects the line to a FAX main body 310 via the 2-4 line conversion section 3442.
