PURPOSE:To store and hold a replenishing developer of large capacity by arranging each lower container of each developer container provided on the outside of a developing unit, as parallel planes in the depth direction and the width direction of a device body, and placing in a straight chain shape and in parallel upper openings for throwing in developer of the upper containers. CONSTITUTION:In accordance with plural developing units, plural developer containers 210 (Y, M, C, B) are provided on the outside of the unit, and each developer container thereof is constituted of the lower container 220 and the upper container 230. Each lower container thereof is provided with a developer carrying means and a developer stirring means, and also, almost the same number thereof is arranged like a plane in the depth direction and the width of a device body. Each upper container 230 is provided with the lower opening 232 communicating with the upper face opening of the lower container 220, and the upper opening 231 for throwing in developer, and constituted so that the upper openings 231 of each upper container 230 thereof are placed in parallel like roughly a straight line, when each upper container 230 thereof has been attached to the lower container 220. In such a way, such as arrangement as a useless space is minimized can be executed, therefore, a large quantity of developer of plural colors can be stored.
