Device, called "reversible pump with asymmetric contiguous chambers", making it possible to make use of gravity without being constrained as to site when the pump is incorporated into an energy conversion assembly with mutual exchanges. The invention includes a body 2 to which are fixed two symmetrical cylinders 26 and 32 so as form a pump 1 with four extensible but asymmetric chambers when one adjoins the other (the internal pistons and their axis having almost identical diameters). Admitted into a small chamber via a pipeline with venturis and wide bends 33 or 35, pipelines interposed between the pump 1 and the distributor 31, a small quantity of dense liquid at the highest level transmits its pressure to the contiguous chamber, by the interposition of the constant-pressure cavity, located between a flat piston face and the small pressurised chamber, and the water contained in the neighbouring large extensible chamber is delivered via the duct 38 or 40 at the desired intermediate height. <IMAGE>
