PURPOSE:To suppress an output of a picture data with low quality and useless operation by comparing an output of each optoelectric converting element with a prescribed threshold value in receiving a reflected light from a member of the standard color and outputting an alarm or the like when the output exceeds the threshold value. CONSTITUTION:When a frame is in the home position prior to the scanning, an analog output of the optoelectric conversion element 1 receiving a reflected light from a white panel for color reference is converted into a digital data by an analog/digital converter 3 and stored in a white level memory 4. On the other hand, the predetermined threshold value is stored in a white level reference memory 6 and when it is compared with a value stored in the white level memory 4 by a comparator 7, and when it exceeds the threshold value in the negative direction, the output of the comparator 7 goes to '1'. The equipment is brought into the alarm state by the output signal to stop its operation and the intervention of the operator is called for.
