PURPOSE:To improve a high speed recording characteristic and to enhance the heat resistance, plasticizer resistance and storage stability of an obtained recording image, by using ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof and a specific compound as a coupler. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material utilizing the color forming reaction between a leuco dye and a coupler thereof, ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof and a compound represented by formula (I) or (II) are used as said coupler. As ascorbic acid or the derivative thereof, all of compounds having an ascorbic acid skeleton are adapted regardless of a D-type and an L-type and as the derivative thereof, higher fatty acid ester of ascorbic acid is pref. The use amount of ascorbic acid or the derivative thereof is 0.1pt.wt. of 0.1-2pts., pref., 0.3-1pt. of the compound (I) or (II). |
