PURPOSE:To widen the application range of a transfer function by providing a transfer destination type area to the calling state table of each subscriber extension telephone set so as to transfer a call to a desired trunk line. CONSTITUTION:When a telephone set 12 hooks off and a special number for absence transfer and representing the absence transfer to a trunk line is dialed and the subscriber number of the trunk line of the transfer destination is dialed, then a master controller 20 sets the absence transfer state flag of the calling state table of the telephone set 12 to the state of 'during transfer' and the subscriber number of the trunk line being the transfer destination is stored in the transfer destination number area. In hooking off the telephone set 11 and dialing the subscriber number of the telephone set 12, the master controller 20 calls the calling state table of the telephone set 12 from each calling state table stored in the main storage device 21, reads the subscriber number of the transfer destination from the transfer destination number area to operate a trunk line circuit 15, thereby applying absence transfer to the trunk line 17.
