PURPOSE:To reduce the toner contamination of an electrostatic charger by providing an electrode which faces the surface of a photosensitive drum nearby the electrostatic charger so that the electrode is applied with a voltage having the same polarity with electrostatic charging. CONSTITUTION:Electrostatic chargers 10B-10D are provided nearby with electrodes 18 which face the surface of the photosensitive drum 9 and are applied with voltages having the same polarity with the electrostatic charging of the photosensitive drum 9. The toner of a toner image formed on the photosensitive drum 9 is repelled by the electrodes 18 and pressed against the photosensitive drum 9, so that it is prevented from being scattered and contaminating the electrostatic chargers 10B-10D or a developing device on the downstream side. The voltage of the electrodes 18 are set higher than the surface potential of the photosensitive drum 9 preferably so as to improve the prevention effect. Consequently, the contamination of the electrostatic chargers and developing device of an image forming device with toner is reduced greatly.
