PURPOSE:To obtain a device which can be constructed to be small-sized and at a low cost and which can realize a stable oscillation state by holding a radiated laser beam as the linear polarized light by a method wherein a polarized-wave-plane holding optical fiber, an excitation light source, an input-side reflection device and an output-side reflector, each being of respective specific types, are installed. CONSTITUTION:The following are installed: a polarized-wave-plane holding optical fiber 10 which incorporates a core 12 doped with active ions and a clad layer 14 covering the circumference of the core 12 and which holds the polarized-light plane of the light being propagated inside the core 12; an excitation light source 16 which sends an excited beam R to the input end of the core 12; an input-side reflection device 20 arranged on the input end of the core 12 and totally reflecting a laser beam which is oscillated inside the core 12 and then proceeds toward the input side of the core 12; an input-side reflection device 22 arranged on the output side of the core 12, reflecting most of the laser beam which is oscillated inside the core 12 and the proceeds toward the output end of the core 12 and transmitting the laser beam partially. For example, an input-side reflection device 20 is composed of an interference filter 24 transmitting an excited beam R and reflecting a laser beam; an output-side reflection device 22 is composed of an interference filter 28 transmitting the laser beam and reflecting the excited beam R. |
