PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent lubricating characteristic and wear resistance by forming a carbon film on the surface of a magnetic film, coating an amide lubricating agent and coupling agent thereon, then subjecting the coating to a heating treatment, thereby forming a lubricative protective film. CONSTITUTION:The amide lubricating agent and coupling agent are coated via the protective film consisting of the carbon on the surface of the magnetic film formed on a substrate and are then subjected to the heating treatment to form the lubricative protective film. An aliphat. hydrocarbon compd. or fluorohydrocarbon compd. of >=15C having an amide group at least at one of terminal groups is preferable as the amide lubricating agent. SOCl2, CH2 CHCOCl, dicyclohexyl carbodiimide, etc., are preferable as the coupling agent. Such lubricating agent is stuck securely to the subsurface by the heating treatment and, therefore, the magnetic recording medium, for example magnetic disk or the like, having the excellent lubricating characteristic with a head and the excellent wear resistance is obtd. |
