1,215,335. Pneumatic conveyers. FIBER CONTROLS CORP. 1 July, 1968 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 31312/68. Addition to 1,178,484. Heading B8A. [Also in Division D1] The materials distributing system of the parent Specification is modified in that the selector switch(es) now have a number of operating positions equal to the number of sources. As shown, stations 1000 and 1042 are always supplied from sources B and A respectively, while station 1040 may be supplied from B or A (but not both) according to the position of gauged selector switches 1063 and baffles 1064, 1066, but in Fig. 1 (not shown), either of two sources may be selected independently for each of three stations, and in Fig. 3 (not shown) any of three sources may be selected for each of six stations, the selector switches in this case being of rotary type (or multi-pin plugs may be used). When more than one station is supplied from one source they are supplied sequentially, and at the end of the sequence the system is "purged" repeatedly by cyclic operation of relays such as 1106 at a rate determined by unspecified delay in the relays. "Purging" means that the source is shut off but the "transition valves" at each station remain open for a time; these valves are repeatedly open and closed for repeated purging. The overall operation is controlled by level limit switches at each station as in the parent Specification. A "transition valve" is shown at 1000; when a pneumatically actuated valve 1008 is opened by the control system air and fibres enter at 1006 and blow open a flap 1024. Rotating doffers 1028, 1030 remove the fibres, which exit at 1002, while the air flows through perforated screens 1032 to the exhaust duct 1034 and fan 1036. |
