PURPOSE:To prevent an O-ring adapted to be used as a seal ring from being twisted and to enhanced the sealing ability thereof by forming the cross-section of the O-ring in a rectangular shape and by forming fine concave and convex parts in the outer peripheral surface of the O-ring. CONSTITUTION:An O-ring is formed in a rectangular cross-sectioned shape so as to avoid having inner and outer peripheral surfaces approximated to curved surfaces, and fine concave and convex parts 3 such that corrugated grooves of zig-zag grooves are formed on the outer peripheral surface of the O-ring. if such as O-ring is attached between, for example, members A, B and a moving member C, it is subjected to several forces in association with the movement of the member C. However, the twist of the O-ring due to these forces may be inhibited by the resistance of the corner parts S of the rectangular cross-sectioned shape. Further, an auxiliary material 4 filled on the outside of the outer peripheral surface of the O-ring is satisfactorily fixed and therefore is prevented from flowing out since the outer peripheral surface 1 is flat and is formed therein with the concave and convex parts 3. Thus, it is possible to enhance the sealing ability and to make the structure of the O-ring simple so that the cost thereof may be reduced.
